X thread
Safety concerns took center stage at the Jan 13 Planning Board meeting. The proposed Baystone Properties LLC subdivision at Stumpfield and Sugar Hill Roads has residents worried about a dangerous blind corner and stormwater runoff. 🧵 #MeetingWatch #HopkintonNH
During the meeting, residents requested a formal traffic study to address these visibility issues. In response, the Planning Board has ordered a site visit to the intersection and is requiring the applicant to coordinate directly with the DPW on sight-distance safety.
The Board also reviewed the SNS Construction LLC proposal. Public testimony warned that the 4-lot density may violate the spirit of our low-density zoning. The Board is now requiring more technical data on floodplain mapping and open space preservation.
The takeaway: Both projects are currently stalled pending better data and safety inspections. We will continue to monitor how the Board weighs these technical safety requirements against development pressure. #Hopkinton #LocalGovernment https://meetingwatch.org/nh/hopkinton/planning-board/2026-01-13/
At the January 13 Planning Board meeting, two major subdivision proposals brought significant community concerns to the floor regarding safety and zoning integrity. Regarding the Baystone Properties LLC proposal at Stumpfield and Sugar Hill Roads, residents expressed high levels of concern over a blind corner at the intersection and potential stormwater runoff issues. In response to these public safety warnings, the Planning Board has taken direct action by ordering a site visit to the intersection and requiring the applicant to coordinate with the DPW to address sight-distance concerns before any further progress. Additionally, the SNS Construction LLC application—a proposed four-lot conservation subdivision on Farrington Corner Road—faced scrutiny over whether the project fits the 'spirit' of Hopkinton’s low-density zoning. Residents expressed concerns regarding over-clearing of land and environmental impacts. The Board has responded by requiring the applicant to submit more detailed information, including updated floodplain mapping and specific data on vegetative cover. We will continue to track these applications to ensure that safety and zoning standards are strictly enforced through the formal review process. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/hopkinton/planning-board/2026-01-13/ #MeetingWatch #HopkintonNH
