X thread
On Aug 4 the Sunapee Selectboard voted to allow hard cider at Cider Fest on town property. The item was never on the published agenda, so residents received no advance notice or chance to comment specifically on alcohol, insurance, or enforcement. #MeetingWatch #SunapeeNH
Motion by member F, second by E. Approved with conditions that the Rowing Club apply and comply with NH liquor laws. Town Manager was directed to contact the police chief afterward. This was a substantive decision made without public warning.
All other votes that day were also unanimous. The pattern shows decisions moving forward even when prior voter rejections or community concerns on youth facilities and signage were raised. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/sunapee/selectboard/2025-08-04/
At the August 4 Selectboard meeting, members approved hard cider service for the September 28 Cider Fest on town property. The topic had not appeared on the public agenda, so there was no prior notice for residents to review logistics, insurance requirements, or enforcement needs before the vote. The same meeting included acceptance of $19,000 in donated materials for pickleball courts at Veterans Field. Residents raised concerns that this effectively bypassed a prior voter rejection of a similar project and reduced space for basketball and skate facilities used by youth. The board provided funding clarifications but made no commitment to restore lost kid-oriented amenities. Other items, such as the 2024 no-through-trucking ordinance on Maple Street, remain stalled with no signs installed. The board acknowledged the delay but took no immediate steps. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/sunapee/selectboard/2025-08-04/ #MeetingWatch #SunapeeNH
