At the May 26 Salem School Board meeting, the chair recused from three contract awards due to client involvement. The board unanimously gave a two-year waste and recycling contract to Waste Management, a one-year landscaping contract to Belco, and a three-year snow removal contract to Merrill Construction. Prior snow removal costs had exceeded budget.

The board also reviewed Policy IJL on library materials selection but tabled it for more work on how parent and teacher representatives are chosen for review committees and whether those committees should be building-specific. Questions focused on consistent removal decisions across schools.
