Longer-form draft.
Significant changes are ahead for the Plainfield Libraries. At the July 20 meeting, Director Jim Allen formally communicated his intent to resign and accept a position at the Claremont Library, pending a background check.

In response, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved the formation of a Recruiting Committee, which will include all five members. The committee is scheduled to meet in early August to begin planning the search for a new director and managing the administrative transition.

On the financial front, the Treasurer reported that while the library budget is currently on target, utility costs are projected to exceed the budget by more than $3,000. The Board noted that solar offsets may be used to mitigate these rising costs. We will continue to monitor how this leadership transition and the utility overage impact library services and taxpayer funds. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/plainfield/library-trustees/2026-07-20/ #MeetingWatch #PlainfieldNH
