split vote and retroactive waiver for non-compliant driveways
Goffstown Planning Board 4/23/26 approved a CUP for Map 17 Lot 176 allowing two driveways just 21 ft apart on a commercial lot, far below the 100 ft minimum. Two members voted no after noting the applicant built first then... https://meetingwatch.org/nh/goffstown/planning-board/2026-04-23/ #MeetingWatch #GoffstownNH
board criticism of after-the-fact permitting
Board members on the Map 17 Lot 176 CUP: "Begging forgiveness rather than asking permission." The application passed with one DPW permit condition despite explicit dissent over the scale of deviation from zoning rules. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/goffstown/planning-board/2026-04-23/ #MeetingWatch #GoffstownNH
waiver requests and board pushback on road standards
On Rainbow Drive conceptual subdivision, the board rejected major waivers for a road over 1000 ft long at 0.5% grade on steep ag land. Multiple members flagged precedent risks and said a 10% grade "is probably not gonna fly." https://meetingwatch.org/nh/goffstown/planning-board/2026-04-23/ #MeetingWatch #GoffstownNH
overall meeting outcomes and internal divisions
Goffstown Planning Board 4/23/26: one split vote on the duplex driveway CUP, strong statements against private roads, and clear limits set on future grade waivers. Most other items passed without opposition. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/goffstown/planning-board/2026-04-23/ #MeetingWatch #GoffstownNH

Goffstown Planning Board April 23 meeting: approved a conditional use permit for Map 17 Lot 176 allowing two driveways 21 feet apart instead of the required 100 ft separation on a commercial-zoned lot. The duplex was already built after a... #MeetingWatch #GoffstownNH
Two board members opposed. One noted the issue should have been handled at the building permit stage. Another called it "begging forgiveness rather than asking permission." The motion passed with a DPW driveway permit as the only added condition.
Same meeting, the board gave firm feedback on a Rainbow Drive steep-slope subdivision concept: no support for large waiver packages on road length and grade, and explicit opposition to any private-road proposal due to future town maintenance risks. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/goffstown/planning-board/2026-04-23/
At the April 23, 2026 Goffstown Planning Board meeting, members approved a conditional use permit for Map 17 Lot 176 on College Road. The permit allows two driveways only 21 feet apart on a triangular commercial lot, well under the 100-foot separation required by zoning. The new duplex replaced a fire-damaged house; the driveways were already in place when the application came forward. The vote was not unanimous. Two members opposed, with statements that the deviation was too large and that the problem should have been resolved before building permits were issued. The board added one condition: the applicant must obtain a driveway permit from DPW. In the same meeting the board reviewed a conceptual subdivision on Rainbow Drive and pushed back on requests for major waivers on road length and grade. Members stated that a 10% grade would not be acceptable and reiterated opposition to private roads in town. https://meetingwatch.org/nh/goffstown/planning-board/2026-04-23/ #MeetingWatch #GoffstownNH
