Wells is considering a major shift in how local services are delivered. The Selectmen have authorized the Town Manager to begin formal discussions regarding a shared Code Enforcement position with Ogunquit. 🧵 #MeetingWatch #WellsME
Why does this matter? Code enforcement impacts everything from new construction to business compliance and property standards. Moving to a shared position with another town could change the responsiveness and availability of these services in Wells.
While this is currently in the discussion phase, residents should prepare to ask questions about how this inter-municipal agreement would work, who oversees it, and how it impacts our town's specific needs. Stay tuned for updates. #WellsME #Accountability https://meetingwatch.org/me/wells/conservation-commission/2026-07-09/
During the Selectmen’s meeting on January 8, 2013, a significant topic was raised regarding the future of municipal services in Wells: the potential sharing of a Code Enforcement position with the Town of Ogunquit. The Town Manager has been officially authorized to pursue formal discussions regarding this inter-municipal agreement. If implemented, this restructuring could change how building codes, inspections, and local enforcement are managed within our community. This is a high-impact decision that affects both residents and local business owners. In addition to service discussions, the Board approved a total expense warrant of $1,578,407.42. As taxpayers, it is vital that we continue to monitor how these large-scale funds are allocated and how changes to town staffing—like the proposed shared position—are evaluated for their long-term impact on our town's efficiency and service quality. https://meetingwatch.org/me/wells/conservation-commission/2026-07-09/ #MeetingWatch #WellsME
