Consent Agenda Approval
The board reviewed the annual financial audit and discussed revised housing unit targets for the MCI site.
- While the agenda listed financial updates, the Board engaged in unlisted strategic planning regarding whether that $1.4M should be used to reduce the tax rate or be moved into stabilization/one-time projects. This is a major decision for all taxpayers.
- Simultaneously, the Board is reviewing tax relief. They discussed replacing the current Residential Tax Exemption with a program that targets relief more narrowly but would significantly reduce the number of residents receiving benefits.
- Between major utility governance changes and shifts in tax relief, there is a lot of movement regarding your wallet and local oversight. Stay tuned for the September follow-ups.
- We will continue to track these decisions to ensure the public is informed before votes are cast.
