When the agenda doesn't match the discussion, transparency suffers. Residents deserve to know what's being decided before the meeting starts. #BedfordMA #LocalGov #Transparency https://meetingwatch.org/ma/bedford/board-of-health/2026-05-05/
Transparency Alert: The Town of Bedford Board of Health meeting on May 5th featured significant discussions on topics that were not included in the public agenda. While the published agenda was focused on housing partnership updates, the Board actually spent time discussing student mental health regarding technology use and the potential regulation of 'body works' establishments to prevent human trafficking. Because these high-priority public health issues weren't listed, residents were unable to prepare or show up specifically to voice their opinions on these matters. Additionally, the Bedford Education Association formally requested that the Board shift its focus from school start times to the mental health impacts of digital technology and social media. While the Board has agreed to look into this, they have not yet shifted their formal priority themes to address this urgent community concern. We are calling for better alignment between meeting agendas and actual discussions to ensure Bedford residents can participate meaningfully in the decisions that affect their families. https://meetingwatch.org/ma/bedford/board-of-health/2026-05-05/ #MeetingWatch #BedfordMA
