The art discussion included indigenous cultural references and historical metaphors. No formal action was taken, but the board heard the full presentation anyway. Residents received no prior notice this topic would be raised.

Separately, the board reached consensus to skip July and reconvene August 18. That schedule change also lacked agenda listing. The Hazard Mitigation Plan discussion further expanded into a 525-page climate plan review not listed in advance. https://meetingwatch.org/ma/lexington/board-of-health/2026-06-16/

Longer-form draft.
At its June 16 meeting the Lexington Board of Health took up two items that were not on the published agenda. One was a presentation on the Horse Lantern public art installation that covered indigenous cultural elements and historical symbolism. The other was a consensus decision to cancel the July meeting and reconvene on August 18 instead.

The board also expanded its Hazard Mitigation Plan discussion to include review of a separate 525-page Climate Change Mitigation Plan identifying flooding, extreme temperatures, and wind as top hazards. None of these topics were noticed to the public beforehand.

All recorded votes remained unanimous. Official minutes have not yet been posted. https://meetingwatch.org/ma/lexington/board-of-health/2026-06-16/ #MeetingWatch #LexingtonMA
